Dermal Fillers

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are gel-like substances injected under the skin. Dermal fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face. As we age, our faces naturally lose subcutaneous fat.

What do Dermal fillers treat?

Correct moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and skin folds. Increasing fullness of lips, cheeks, chin, under-eye hollows, jawline, and back of the hand. Restoring facial fat loss.

FAQ’s

Are Dermal Fillers safe?

Dermal Fillers are considered to be safe as they are FDA approved, but side effects can occur. (See risks).

How painful are Dermal Fillers?

Getting filler is a little uncomfortable, but at VFHC Aesthetic, we use the safest techniques which also ensure minimal pain.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of syringes of filler administered during each treatment will depend on your age and what you are trying to accomplish. One or two syringes are usually all that’s needed to treat a single area, but some dermal filler patients may require 3 or 4.

What do I need to know before getting Dermal Fillers?

  • 2 Days Prior to Injections. Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinol, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any “anti-aging” products. Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing or using hair removal cream on the area.
  • 24 Hours Prior to Injections. Do not drink alcoholic beverages.

What do I need to know after Dermal Fillers?

Do not do the following withing 24 to 48 hours after treatment:

  • Don’t participate in intense cardio
  • Don’t apply makeup or use facial tools
  • Don’t lie down. Don’t drink alcohol
  • Don’t get a facial, massage, or microdermabrasion

What are the risks?

The most serious risk associated with dermal fillers is accidental injection into a blood vessel. Common risks include: Bruising, redness, swelling, pain. tenderness, itching and rash.

When will I see treatment results and how long will they last?

Treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it’s normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face. A single dermal filler treatment can typically last 6 to 12 months, and in some cases, even longer.
